Eesha Koppikhar’s Shabri to finally release on August 26

Director Lalit Marathe is a relieved and happy man as his film Shabri produced by Ram Gopal Varma which went into production five years ago will finally be releasing on August 26, after a long wait.
Shabri, a story about the first female crime lord in Mumbai, had been completed long back but couldn’t see light of the day for over four years. The first cut of the film was ready in 2006 and the film was supposed to release around the same time as Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag in 2007. After Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag flopped, Shabri got stuck.
Lalit who has also been a writer of movies like Bhoot, Swades and Sarkar started an online campaign on facebook in September 2009 to make RGV release Shabri. But all his efforts fell on deaf ears. However now, RGV has finally decided to release the film.
Shabri stars Eesha Koppikhar, debutant Raj Arjun, Zakir Hussain and Pradeep Rawat. The film is about a woman named Shabri, played by Eesha who runs a flour mill to make ends meet and how she becomes a gangster following a chain of events that changes her life. The film is shot in real locations across Mumbai and takes a peep into the matka gambling dens and the everyday lives of those living on the edge.
The film will be released by Reliance Pictures and its trailer will feature along with Singham, which releases today.
